We have an exciting opportunity for a Principal Specialist, Contracts within our Naval Air Missiles (NAM) contracts organization supporting the production contract portfolio for a critical and growing program area. This role will be an integral part of the NAM Contracts team, with responsibility over several production contracts and active proposals in the AIM‑9X® portfolio, reporting directly to the Senior Contracts Manager for this program area.
WhatYou Will Do
- Provide support to senior management regarding contractual and business issues.
- Advise management of contractual rights, obligations, and possible mitigation of contractual or programmatic risks.
- Build relationships through regular communication with key leaders both internally and externally, interfacing with customers for correspondence, contractual changes, and contractual issues.
- Analyze Request for Proposals (RFP), conduct proposal reviews and coordination, negotiate contracts, review estimates at completion (EAC), support program management and execution reviews, and perform general contract administration.
- Maintain and drive a robust change management process across the portfolio to recognize and eliminate ambiguities or unauthorized changes that could result in cost overruns, delivery and performance problems, or schedule delays.
- Develop and implement strategies to deal with complex issues that require detailed information gathering, analysis, and investigation.
- Work in a fast‑paced environment, prioritizing tasks to remain effective.
- University Degree or equivalent experience and a minimum of 5 years prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field with at least 3 years’ experience.
- Experience with administering U.S. Government contracts, FAR and/or DFARS.
- Experience managing proposals and/or similar contract negotiations.
- Experience with one or more of the following:
Contracts Administration/Management, Program/Project Management, Supply Chain Management, or Financial/Estimating Management.
- Juris Doctor or MBA and/or Contracts certifications (e.g., CPCM, CFCM, CCCM).
- Ability to understand the financial aspects of contracts.
- Demonstrated ability to develop effective relationships with customers and internal partners based on understanding and trust.
- Proven record of responsiveness with strong time management and organization skills.
- Past experience working within a team and fostering teamwork, trust, and influencing contractual outcomes.
- Ability to manage a high volume of proposals and priorities while adapting to changing environments/situations.
- Ability to obtain a DoD Secret Clearance or possess a current existing clearance.
Salary range: $82,000–$164,000 USD (good faith estimate). Additional benefits may include medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, 401(k) match, flexible spending accounts, paid time off, parental leave, and more, depending on the business unit and collective‑bargaining agreement.
