Children's Clinics for Rehabilitative Services
Speech Language Pathologist (Healthcare) SUMMARYThis position is responsible for providing a comprehensive range of speech, language, and/or feeding services including assessment, treatment, and parent education/coaching, in a multidisciplinary setting.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS- Conducts age-appropriate clinical and functional speech-language/communication evaluations/assessments, develops therapy treatment plans based upon evaluation/assessment findings and patient/family input
- Provides skilled, evidence-based therapy services and adapts treatment to patient's progress and needs
- Incorporates parents/guardians in treatment sessions using a coaching model
- Collaborates within a multidisciplinary model, including multidisciplinary clinics and co-treatment sessions with other therapeutic providers (e.g., physical therapy, occupational therapy, audiology, nutritionists)
- Provides ongoing education to parents, families, educators, and other professionals regarding speech-language and feeding therapies and their impact on communication, learning, socialization, and overall quality of life, as well as advances in diagnoses and treatment
- Documents evaluations/assessments, treatments, consultations, patient/family education, and all relevant and required patient care information in the electronic health record in an accurate and timely manner, in accordance with clinic policies
- Participates in new staff orientation and ongoing staff education
- Performs other duties as required and assigned
SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Knowledge of evidence-based approaches to planning and providing patient care; experience in measuring and reporting clinical and functional outcomes of care to parents, physicians, and other professionals
- Knowledge of clinic-wide, local, state, and national regulatory requirements and ability to execute job duties consistent with them
- Experience with light-tech and high-tech forms of augmentative and alternative communication and/or personal amplification such as, cochlear implants, bone-anchored hearing aids, conventional hearing aids, and classroom amplification technology
- A team member should possess specialty training in at least one of the following areas: cleft lip and palate, Deaf/Hard of Hearing, feeding, autism, augmentative and alternative communication, early intervention, and complex, rare medical conditions
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant software skills
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of patient, personnel, and corporate data
- Ability to select and use age, diagnosis, and developmentally appropriate assessment methods, standardized tests, and other tools to evaluate the communication abilities of children of all ages and varied disorders
- Ability to complete screenings for specific needs including feeding, AAC, VPI, and listening and spoken language; and refer, as appropriate, for specialized evaluation and treatment
- Ability to develop appropriate, measurable treatment goals, document progress towards goals, modify treatment plans according to patient progress and established policies
- Ability to provide culturally sensitive and linguistically appropriate intervention services; work with and support interpreters and translators, as needed
- Supervises students and clinical fellows, as well as other support personnel in accordance with all local, state, and national guidelines
- Ability to effectively manage time with a proven ability to meet deadlines; organization and attention to detail
- Ability to operate personal computer and related office equipment as needed to perform job function
Master's Degree in Speech Language Pathology required
ExperienceTwo years related pediatric experience preferred
Licenses and Certificates- Speech Language Pathologist Licensure from the state of Arizona SLP Licensing Board required
- Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech Language Hearing Association required
- AHCCCS Provider identification number required, may be obtained upon hire
- BLS certification required
