Histotechnologist II – University of Arizona
The Arizona Veterinary Diagnostic Laboratory (AzVLD) at the University of Arizona seeks a Histotechnologist II. The lab is part of the National Animal Health Laboratory Network (NAHLN) and provides diagnostic services and disease surveillance for the veterinary community of Arizona.
Duties & Responsibilities- Process tissue specimens: gross trimming, loading/unloading tissue processor, paraffin embedding, microtomy, slide preparation, staining (H&E and special stains), instrument use and hand staining, slides cover slipping, labeling.
- Daily recordkeeping: trim sheets, specimen codes into the LIMS, maintain data and quality assurance tasks including SOP review.
- Routine maintenance: clean work areas, maintain instruments, restock supplies.
- Maintain specimen storage systems (blocks, slides) and disposal.
Skills and Abilities
- Pass the histotechnician certification (HT or HLT) within 12 months.
- Effective communication with diverse groups.
- High school diploma or equivalent, or equivalent learning through experience.
- Minimum 3 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- Associate’s degree plus relevant work experience.

Employment Type:
Full Time, 40 hours per week. Compensation: hourly rate $20.33–$25.41 (FLSA: non‑exempt). FLSA, Job FTE: 1.0.
