The Paramedic role at Dispatch Health supports exceptional patient care by assisting with physical exams. point of care testing and data gathering. The Paramedic works under the medical direction of a physician in collaboration with a virtual Dispatch Health Advanced Practice Provider (Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant) while being present with patients in their place of residence. The ability to remain calm under pressure and strong organizational and customer service skills are keys to success as a Paramedic.
Clinical and on-the-job training will be provided for this exciting opportunity to assist in the delivery of hospital-level healthcare in the comfort of a patient's home. This position requires the ability to work various shifts including nights, weekends and holidays.
What You’ll Do- Drive Dispatch Health branded vehicle to meet patients at their place of need and load/unload supplies for daily activities (averaging 6-8 visits per 10‑hour shift).
- Available for shifts from 8am to 6pm or 10am to 8pm.
- Don and doff PPE appropriately and maintain strict infection prevention strategies.
- Communicate with a healthcare provider via messaging, video conference through a company provided mobile device.
- Obtain patient’s vital signs and assist in the collection of patient data. Enter information into company applications and EMR as outlined in company procedure and protocol documents.
- Facilitate a physical exam using a mobile device and conduct other diagnostic tests and treatments as requested by virtual provider, as permitted by state law. This may include, but is not limited to, blood draws, EKG, splints, basic wound care, and other patient care activities that are required for the successful completion of the visit.
- Perform an indicated point‑of‑care lab testing as directed by virtual provider.
- Provide discharge instructions as directed by a virtual provider.
- Adhere to all medical protocols, guidelines and legal regulations.
- Responsible for equipment use, care and allocation.
- Restock and clean equipment at end of shift appropriately.
- Other duties as assigned as directed by the virtual provider to successfully complete a visit and maintain equipment and vehicles.

Education and Experience
Paramedic certification (EMT‑P)
Skills/Abilities- Minimum one (1) year patient facing experience.
- Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
- BLS, American Heart Association
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Strong customer service, communication, and technological skills
- Previous experience of comprehensive history gathering and documentation within EMR
- Previous experience with basic procedural skills
- Ability to interact with patients and families and develop rapport and trust, ability to communicate and provide verbal professional clinical presentations/summaries.
- Function autonomously and as part of a team to responsibly deliver care with flexibility and open‑mindedness.
- Continuous learner with strong critical thinking skills
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
- Ability to drive and sit in a car for long periods of time.
- Ability to drive during the day and at night.
- Ability to climb three flights of stairs while carrying equipment.
- Ability to push, pull, and lift 50 pounds.
- Visual ability to perform point‑of‑care testing such as such as EKGs, blood draws, taking vitals.
- Ability to provide patient care in non‑traditional or smaller spaces with limited room for movement.
- Ability to hear with or without accommodation.
