We are seeking a Payroll Assistant Manager to join our team in Tucson. This role plays a key part in ensuring accurate and timely payroll operations while supporting our commitment to excellence for both our employees and guests.

Responsibilities

As a Payroll Assistant Manager, you will possess a professional demeanor, strong working knowledge of payroll processing, payroll tax administration, and employment laws, along with sound judgment, effective coaching and counseling skills, and a genuine desire to facilitate positive outcomes. This role is hands‑on and responsible for the accurate execution of payroll operations, including full‑cycle regular payroll processing, service and colleague commission reporting and adjustments, and timely posting of payroll‑related reports.

Responsibilities include payroll tax administration and research, system administration within ADP and UKG, and oversight of the payroll helpdesk. The position also supports staff supervision, recruiting, training, and coaching, ensures compliance with statutory requirements, develops and maintains Payroll Standard Operating Procedures, trains managers on proper timekeeping practices, and evaluates, tests, and implements new payroll systems and processes.

Qualifications

As the ideal candidate, you hold an associate or bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or business, or possess a minimum of 3 years of payroll experience with FLSA, OT, commissions, and W-2s. You also have prior experience supervising and mentoring colleagues. In this role, you will serve as a subject matter expert on payroll laws and procedures across multiple states. You are comfortable researching state regulations using both online resources and compliance software.

You are an effective facilitator and skilled in drafting policies, procedures, and training materials for supervisors, managers, and staff. You exercise excellent judgment, maintain confidentiality, and demonstrate strong attention to detail. Your analytical skills enable you to make sound decisions and provide well‑reasoned solutions and recommendations. Finally, you are a collaborative team player who works effectively with diverse groups and can prioritize multiple tasks simultaneously.
