Buyer, Supply Chain​/Logistics

Talascend is currently seeking a Buyer for a contract opportunity in Tucson, AZ.

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Buyer to join our team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing the delivery of suppliers capable of meeting our production cost, quality, and delivery objectives. This position involves majority tactical procurement activities with strategic activities accounting for a minority of the workload.


RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Ensure supplier on-time delivery, expedite pull-in requests, and negotiate push-out requests.
• Work with accounts payable and suppliers to resolve invoicing issues.
• Monitor suppliers leading indicators reports to engage with suppliers before our factory is impacted.
• Escalate any planning, quality, or delivery issues within the suppliers organization to supplier quality, commodity management, and/or leadership as appropriate.
• Support, and may manage, supplier pulls.
• Assist in transition activities.
• Gain supplier commitments on material cost reductions.

INTERACTIONS:

• Interact with suppliers at the Customer Service Rep and Account Manager levels.
• Frequently interact internally with Engineering, Planning, Operations, and Quality Leads, and when necessary with Program Managers and Product Line Managers.

QUALIFICATIONS:

• Bachelor's degree required.
• 0-3 years of experience in procurement or a related field.
• Must have Microsoft Office experience, especially Excel.
• SAP experience is a plus.
• Knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices, and procedures within the field.
• Ability to follow instructions and apply company policies and procedures to resolve routine issues.
• Works on problems of limited scope, following standard practices and procedures.
• Normally receives detailed instructions on all work.
• Relies on instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform job functions.
• Works under immediate supervision.
• Primary job functions do not typically require exercising independent judgment.
