This job is a working level role and reports into the site Operations Manager. Provides leadership to employees performing routine work within a single function or work group. Work is performed within established professional standards and practices. This role is responsible for work cell manufacturing execution. Receives detailed assignments and follows established processes to meet the goals of the work cell.
Develops and executes schedules and enforces policies and procedures. Erroneous decisions or failure to achieve results may have a negative impact on the departments operations, schedules, and/or performance goals. Provides direction to a unit or group of employees, assigning tasks and checking work at regular intervals. Directs subordinates to achieve assignments using established guidelines, procedures, and policies. Provides input for employees performance reviews and compensation reviews;
recommends and executes disciplinary action as necessary. Interacts directly with subordinates and peer groups; engages in routine exchanges of information; interactions with external contacts, if applicable, would be monitored. Regular overtime work will be required in this role.
Performs tasks such as, but not limited to, the following:
- Receives a daily production schedule from planning; receives material to manufacture modify or repair products from logistics.
- Co-ordinates these inputs and a variety of resources (e.g., materials, personnel, equipment, etc.) to achieve on-time production of quality products within budget guidelines.
- Identifies and resolves bottlenecks in the production process.
- Owns manufacturing area assigned, coordinates cross functionally to support customer needs, communicates in a proactive manner to all key stakeholders.
- Directly supervises a team of at least 10 or more employees. Manages employee performance, attendance, and other issues that may arise.
- Management of controllable operating expenditure e.g. scrap, consumables. Identifies limits to production and guides teams to continuously improve processes.
- Ensures all return to work interviews and first level disciplinary hearings are conducted in a timely, consistent and professional manner.
- May operate at technician level at times to complete work on hardware
- Other duties as assigned
- Knowledge of the production process and the tools and equipment used in the process.
- Strong communication skills and ability to effectively communicate with cross functional teams
- Knowledge and understanding of the business unit and how decisions impact customer satisfaction, product quality, on-time delivery and the profitability of the unit (WOR/MOR/RCCP).
- Ability to coordinate a wide variety of resources to meet production quality and quantity metrics
- Knowledge of ISO/AS9100 Standards and Company Continuous Improvement Initiatives
- Ability to effectively communicate with a wide variety of internal and external customers.
- Ability to effectively lead, manage, train and motivate a diverse group of employees to achieve high production levels within tight time deadlines and in a highly dynamic manufacturing environment.
- Ability to use some or all of the following PC applications:
Google Suite (Google sheets, etc.), Word, Lotus Notes, Excel, Power point - Knowledge and experience with SAP preferred
- Duties of this position are performed in a manufacturing environment with occasional exposure to elements such as noise, dust, chemicals, operating machinery, temperature extremes, etc.
- Duties may require periodic sustained visual concentration on a computer monitor or on numbers and other detailed data.
- Above demands are carried out within the local existing Health and Safety guidelines
- 5+ years supervising a team of direct reports of at least 10 people
- 5+ years manufacturing experience (preferably electronics manufacturing within the Aerospace and Defense industry)
- Bachelor's degree in related field, or consideration of an equivalent combination of education and experience (>5 years electronics manufacturing experience AND supervisory experience in lieu of degree)
