Pay Range

$46,500.00-$63,900.00 Annual. This is the base salary pay range that an applicant can expect to make upon hire. Pay within this range will vary based upon relevant experience, skills, and education among other factors. In addition, this position is eligible for an incentive bonus.

Position Overview

We are looking for a skilled and experienced Mid-Level Machinist to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in machining operations, safety protocols, and quality control. This role requires proficiency in various machining tasks, problem‑solving abilities, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of production and safety.

Schedule:

T-F: 4:30am - 2:30pm

Key Responsibilities
  • Safety and PPE:
    • Select and use task‑specific Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
    • Maintain safe work habits to protect self and others.
    • Ensure hand safety and proper hazardous communication.
    • Follow Control of Hazardous Energy (LOTO) procedures.
  • Equipment Operation:
    • Operate forklifts and cranes safely, including pre‑use inspections and rigging.
    • Perform machine guarding and basic machine maintenance.
    • Conduct proficient set‑ups for required tasks.
  • Machining Tasks:
    • Operate proficiently on lathe, vertical mill, and balancing machines.
    • Perform turning (straight/taper), facing, grooving, threading, single‑point threading, chamfering, drilling, and centre drilling.
    • Hold tolerances to +/- .001 and meet surface finish requirements.
    • Execute layout and knurling tasks.
  • Technical

    Skills:
    • Read and interpret blueprints and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
    • Use common hand tools and measuring instruments (tape measure, scale, micrometer, caliper).
    • Apply advanced shop math (measurements, geometry, volume, area) and advanced Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
  • Tooling and Maintenance:
    • Sharpen drill bits and grind flats/reliefs.
    • Understand tooling coatings and life spans (carbide, HSS).
    • Perform basic machine maintenance and pre‑use inspections.
  • Computer

    Skills:
    • Utilize email, safety skills software, Workday, and SharePoint.
    • Document good catches and manage waste streams (scrap metal, environmental).
    • Introduction to SAP and SOP development.
  • Housekeeping and Production:
    • Maintain a clean and organised workspace.
    • Comprehend and sign off on Job Safety Analysis (JSA).
    • Meet production standards and perform visual inspections.
    • Implement 5S methodology for workplace organisation.
  • Problem Solving and Quality Control:
    • Identify and solve machining problems.
    • Handle quality spills and engineering tasks.
    • Perform rework and ensure high‑quality production standards.
Minimal Qualifications
  • Minimum of 1‑3 years of experience in manual machining or closely related trade.
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional technical training or certification preferred.
  • Proven experience as a machinist with proficiency in lathe and mill operations.
  • Strong understanding of machining principles and safety protocols.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical documents and blueprints.
  • Proficiency in advanced shop math and computer skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Excellent problem‑solving skills and ability to work independently.
Physical Requirements
  • Ability to lift and handle materials up to 50 lbs.
  • Standing for extended periods and performing repetitive tasks.
  • Good hand‑eye coordination and manual dexterity.
