Job Title: Lab Asst./Admin
Location: Tucson, AZ
Shift: 1st
Pay: $16-$22 pending experience
The selected candidate will assist with hardware preparation, documentation, part tracking, and data organization in both lab and cleanroom environments. This role includes supporting on-site work and occasional off‑site activities in the greater Phoenix area. Extended hours, nights, or weekends may occasionally be required to meet program schedules.
Responsibilities- Support engineers and technicians by gathering parts, tools, and equipment needed for assembly and testing activities
- Take and organize notes during test sessions, meetings, or hardware builds
- Update records and spreadsheets to track hardware status, test progress, and configuration information
- Assist in labeling, tagging, and tracking parts using Rocket Lab’s documentation and inventory systems
- Help maintain inventory accuracy by logging material movements, checking part quantities, and organizing storage areas
- Support cleanroom and production activities, including basic cleaning, equipment prep, and adherence to contamination control practices
- Assist in setting up test areas or equipment under the guidance of senior technicians or engineers
- Help with shipping and receiving tasks, including packaging, labeling, and verifying parts or assemblies
- Maintain organized work spaces, tools, and documentation to ensure safe and efficient operations
- Perform other administrative or hands‑on support duties as assigned
- High school diploma or GED required
- U.S. citizenship is required, due to program requirements
- Ability to follow written procedures and instructions accurately
- Basic computer skills, including experience with Microsoft Office Suite (such as Excel or Word)
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and record‑keeping skills
- Hands‑on experience in a lab, workshop, production, or technical environment (this can include internship, trade school, or hobbyist experience)
- Ability to work extended hours, nights, or weekends as needed to support test or build schedules
- Strong teamwork and communication skills
- Experience working in a cleanroom or production area with ESD or contamination control practices
- Familiarity with inventory tracking, labeling, or ERP systems
- Interest in aerospace, electronics, or manufacturing and a desire to grow technical skills
- Familiarity with Excel‑based tracking sheets or databases
- Standing for long periods of time, climbing up and down ladders, bending, grasping, sitting, pulling, pushing, stooping, and stretching may be required to perform the functions of this position
- Able to lift up to 25 lbs. unassisted
- Must be able to climb ladders and be comfortable working in tight spaces
- Must be able to move repetitively, bend or twist, and use hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools or controls
- Must be able to walk or stand for extended periods – 8 hours min
- Must be able to stoop, bend, crawl, and navigate tight spaces
