We are seeking an experienced Machine Shop Manager to lead component repair operations at a reputable aviation repair station in Tucson, Arizona
. This role is ideal for a hands‑on leader with extensive experience in turbine engine component repair, machining, welding, and grinding.
As Machine Shop Manager, you will oversee daily shop operations, lead a skilled repair team, manage production schedules, and ensure all work meets quality, safety, and FAA compliance standards. Your expertise will play a key role in maintaining operational efficiency, meeting customer requirements, and driving continuous improvement.
Responsibilities- Lead and oversee component repair operations, including TIG welding, hand finishing, machining, and outside processing.
- Develop and maintain production schedules to meet lead‑time, quality, and delivery objectives.
- Establish and monitor labor standards to improve productivity and operational efficiency.
- Review technical data, engineering drawings, specifications, and repair instructions to develop safe and cost‑effective repair processes.
- Collaborate with Engineering to ensure repair processes comply with FAA requirements and approved technical data.
- Provide Sales with accurate labor and material cost estimates to support customer quotations.
- Monitor work‑in‑progress and communicate production updates during daily meetings.
- Recruit, train, evaluate, and supervise shop personnel while promoting accountability, teamwork, and productivity.
- Maintain machinery, tools, and work areas in a clean, organized, and professional condition.
- Implement preventive maintenance programs for shop equipment.
- Enforce safety procedures throughout machining and repair areas.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and increased operational efficiency.
- Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a Machine Shop Manager or in a similar leadership role within a turbine engine component repair environment.
- Strong knowledge of conventional machining and repair equipment.
- Proven experience in a high‑volume, fast‑paced aviation or precision manufacturing environment.
- In‑depth knowledge of turbine engine component repair processes and techniques.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, technical data, and repair instructions.
- Extensive experience using precision inspection and measurement tools.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and general computer applications.
- Experience with Solid Works and CNC programming is a plus.
- Strong leadership skills, technical expertise, and a commitment to quality and customer satisfaction.
- Ability to pass a pre‑employment drug screening.
