Function: Under the direction of the Vice President of Policy and Advocacy, the Advocacy Coordinator will facilitate leadership development activities amongst youth and community members aligned with goals and objectives of the program and the Community Food Bank (CFB).

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Facilitates civic engagement trainings to develop the leadership of stakeholders, community members and staff to advocate for policy changes related to our food system.
  • Coordinates Sowing Remedies 9‑month fellowship; schedules presenters, field trips and leadership development opportunities related to food justice.
  • Provides technical support and strategic leadership to community groups, advocates, and organizers in Southern Arizona.
  • In partnership with CFB’s Development and Marketing teams and stakeholders, develops advocacy materials including fact sheets, toolkits, action alerts, blog posts, and social media content.
  • Establishes and cultivates collaborative relationships with community partners, coalitions, and stakeholders.
  • Supports and attends visits with local and state officials, cultivates relationships with local leaders to advance organizing and policy advocacy objectives.
  • Actively engages in community organizing activities on behalf of the team and organization.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Knowledge of facilitating civic engagement trainings and activities.
  • Skills in developing advocacy materials.
  • Ability to cultivate relationships with local leaders.
  • Effective time management and organizational skills.
  • Strong customer service, communication, and listening skills.
  • Ability to work with people from diverse economic, social, and political backgrounds.
Minimum Qualifications
  • A high school diploma or equivalent.
  • One (1) year of experience in a fast‑paced, complex work environment demonstrating organizational and follow‑through skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, Office 365, and aptitude to learn other software platforms.
  • For company insurance purposes, at least 21 years of age; possess a current Arizona Driver’s License with a safe driving record.

Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered if applicable and must be directly related to the functions and body of knowledge required to successfully perform the job.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Two (2) years of experience in a fast‑paced, complex work environment demonstrating organizational and follow‑through skills.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish.
Physical Requirements
  • Light Work – ability to exert 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force frequently, and/or a negligible amount of force constantly to move objects.
