Primary Function: Under the direction of the Pastor, this position is responsible for assisting in the management of the Youth Ministry program for a Parish, and for exhibiting Gospel values both academically and behaviorally.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Recognize and support the unique Catholic mission of the Diocese by speaking, acting, and instructing consistent with the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church.
- Live a gospel‑value life as an active faith community member and model the teaching of Jesus by attitude and example.
- Assist in overseeing youth ministry and help define its mission and vision.
- Provide leadership and input to the Pastor for spiritual growth strategies for youth.
- Collaboratively educate and inform the congregation and its youth of the mission and direction of the youth ministry.
- Encourage and nurture Catholic understanding and tradition of Christians' living; help parents guide the faith of their children.
- Create a high‑energy, spirit‑filled environment for youth; commit energy flexibly to youth ministry.
- Explore ways to keep youth and families involved through retreats, service projects, and social gatherings.
- Work cooperatively with other churches and their youth leaders to create inter‑church events.
- Organize fundraisers and build community accountability among youth.
- Maintain clear communication through internet, mailings, calls, visits, bulletins, and announcements.
- Meet with Junior and Senior High school groups to instill church values.
- Assist with youth‑related activities, stay within budget, and provide required financial reports.
- Ensure compliance with the diocesan safe environment program.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requires coordination, manual dexterity, normal mental and visual ability, and the ability to lift as required in a normal office setting.
Required Activities- Walking, sitting, standing, stooping, reaching, talking, handling, hearing, carrying, and keyboarding.
- Working knowledge of and strong commitment to fostering lay leadership in the Roman Catholic Church; must be a practicing Roman Catholic in full communion with the Church.
- Excellent written, verbal, and public speaking and presentation skills.
- Punctuality, flexible travel, willingness to work weekends.
- Excellent human relations and interpersonal skills; self‑starter, well‑organized, and team player.
- Proficiency with information technology and ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to complete a criminal history and background check.
- Professional bearing and clean, neat appearance.
- A bachelor’s degree in business, public administration, or related field, or equivalent experience.
- At least one year’s experience in a Catholic youth ministry environment.
- Bi‑lingual Spanish‑English preferred.
- Level 1 Catechetical training.
