UnitInformation
The Women’s Care Unit is a 20‑bed unit that provides gynecologic, antepartum and medical‑surgical overflow for adolescent, adult and geriatric women. The all‑private‑room unit cares for post‑surgical patients following vaginal and abdominal hysterectomy, bladder repairs, laparoscopic procedures, plastics, mastectomies/breast reconstruction and women with medical‑surgical complications. The unit also specializes in high‑risk antepartum care, with patients sometimes staying weeks or months until delivery.
The all‑female staff provides compassionate care to patients who have experienced fetal loss or who are placing a baby for adoption. With a small, tenured staff, this unit has a cohesive physician‑nurse partnership that delivers safe, exceptional care.
Coordinates patient care planning with other disciplines using the nursing process and critical thinking to maintain patient safety and well‑being. Some positions may be assigned to critical care areas requiring specialized training.

- Education: Graduation from an accredited nursing program. (Some positions may require additional training related to a specific skill area.)
- Experience: One year of acute‑care nursing experience preferred. (Positions assigned to EP require two years of EP experience or proven competency.)
- Licensure / Certification: Current RN license in Arizona and BLS certification. Advanced life‑support (ACLS, PALS) may be required for certain departments. Additional certifications may be required for specialties such as EP.
- Other Requirements: Valid Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card within six months for outpatient hospice & pediatrics; CPI for mental health.
- Knowledge of direct patient care and critical care procedures, tools and responses.
- Knowledge of exam indicators, contraindications and patient preparation.
- Skill in communicating clearly and concisely with staff and physicians.
- Skill in reading 12‑lead EKG.
- Skill demonstrated in assigned disciplines such as EP.
- Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions and procedure manuals.
- Ability to complete routine reports and correspondence.
- Ability to listen and interpret instructions accurately.
- Ability to speak and communicate effectively.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
- Ability to interpret an extensive variety of instructions and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
