Compensation

$10,000 sign‑on bonus for external experienced OR RNs; flat rate $5/hr for call, $3/hr weekend shift differential, and 18% night shift differential, when applicable.

Position Summary

This position assesses, plans, implements, evaluates and documents nursing care of patients in accordance with organizational policies and professional nursing standards. It is accountable for the quality of nursing services delivered by the RN or others under their direction and uses specialized knowledge, judgment, and nursing skills necessary to assess data and plan care appropriate to each patient’s physical and developmental needs.

Core

Functions
  • Assesses patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural, and discharge planning needs. Reviews patient history and physical with patient/family and ensures completion within the appropriate timeframe. Reviews diagnostics and laboratory data and reports abnormal results to the physician(s) and other appropriate caregivers. Completes assessment and reassessments according to patient need.
  • Formulates a plan of care, including the discharge plan, based on assessment data and patient, family, and health team input. Initiates and revises the plan of care to reflect changing patient needs.
  • Implements the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation, and supervision of the health‑care team. Provides care based on physician orders and the nursing plan of care, in compliance with policies, procedures, standards of care, and regulatory requirements.
  • Evaluates the patient’s and family’s response to care and teaching, revises the plan of care as needed, and evaluates patients’ progress toward goals and expected outcomes.
  • Documents assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation in the patient record in a legible and timely manner.
  • Provides care based on the best evidence and may participate in research activities. Participates in unit or facility shared leadership and contributes to the education and orientation of personnel, patients, students, families, and visitors. Promotes support of others through precepting and mentoring when appropriate.
  • Contributes to society through activities that lead to excellent patient outcomes and engages in professional organizations to improve national nursing quality indicators and outcomes.
  • May supervise staff and workflow of the department in some roles.
  • Interacts with all levels of staff, physicians, patients, families, and external contacts to coordinate care. Works with clergy to provide spiritual support and synthesizes data from multiple sources to support the patient and family response to changes in health status.
  • Minimum Qualifications

    Current valid RN license in the state of practice (or temporary/interim or compact RN license). BLS certification required. Must have at least one year of acute‑care experience in a specialty area within the past 12 months, unless a new graduate nurse with less than 12 months of experience is applying. Additional certifications or continuing education may be required for specific practice areas.

    • Professional certification preferred.
    • Additional related education and/or experience preferred.
