This opportunity involves joining Banner Health to work at the Tucson campus and South campus Progressive Care units. As an RN for Banner Staffing Services you will self-schedule a minimum of 2 shifts per month and must be available to schedule at either location. Shifts may be Day or Night. PCU RN experience for at least 12 months within the last 18 months is required.

BLS and ACLS are required on hire.

Responsibilities
  • Assesses patient physical, psychological, social, spiritual, educational, developmental, cultural and discharge planning needs. Reviews patient history and physical with patient/family, completes assessments within policy, and communicates findings to the care team.

  • Formulates and plans care, including discharge planning, based on assessment data and input from patient/family and health team. Develops realistic, measurable goals in collaboration with patient/family and plans care with the multidisciplinary team. Revises the plan as patient needs change.

  • Implements the plan of care through direct patient care, coordination, delegation and supervision of the health care team. Ensures care aligns with physician orders, policies, standards of care, and regulatory requirements. Delegates appropriately and communicates patient status to caregivers.

  • Evaluates patient and family response to care and teaching; revises the plan of care as needed. Communicates progress toward goals and outcomes with the health care team.

  • Documents assessments, planning, implementation and evaluation in the patient record; ensures timely and accurate documentation of data, nursing interventions, and patient responses. Notes physician orders accurately and promptly.

  • Participates in evidence-based practice and quality improvement activities. Supports unit or facility leadership and mentors staff as appropriate.

  • Contributes to patient outcomes through safe, effective, timely, equitable care; participates in professional organizations and quality improvement efforts.

  • In some roles, may supervise staff and unit workflow.

  • Interacts with staff at all levels, physicians, patients, families and external contacts to coordinate care and support the patient and family through changes in health status.

    Minimum Qualifications

    Must possess a current, valid RN license in state of practice, or a compact license; BLS certification required. Additional certification or continuing education may be required based on area of practice. Banner Registry and Travel positions require a minimum of one year of acute care experience, including recent practice in the relevant specialty. Some facilities require specific fingerprint clearance cards as stated in policy.

    Preferred Qualifications

    Bachelor’s degree preferred. Professional certification preferred. Additional related education or experience preferred.
