Responsibilities
We are searching for an experienced day or night shift RN for Intake and Assessment.
Palo Verde Behavioral Health Hospital provides comprehensive behavioral healthcare for children, adolescents, adults, and senior adults suffering from mental health and addictive illnesses. PVBH is an 84 bed, short-term, acute care hospital offering inpatient, partial and intensive outpatient hospitalization, as well as specialized treatment programs for chemical dependency. PVBH has an excellent reputation as an innovative hospital with caring, dedicated staff, experienced in the delivery of behavioral healthcare.
Situated in Tucson, AZ, at the base of the Catalina Foothills, PVBH is minutes to Saguaro National Park and the University of Arizona.
The Assessment and Referral R.N. is responsible for coordination of all admissions processes and serves as liaison to referral sources, families, payors, physicians, and hospital personnel involved with each admission.

- Processing of inquiry and referral calls and responds to request for hospital and program information, assessment, and possible admission.
- Verifying insurance, triaging patients, completing assessments, entering calls and admissions in computer and completing all admission paperwork with patient.
- Effectively communicating with patients, physicians, staff, and referral sources.
- Excellent communication skills, i.e., verbal and written.
- Ability to prioritize; work well under periods of high stress and pressure.
- Ability to multi-task and demonstrate critical thinking skills.
- Demonstrates an understanding of funding entities.
- Thorough knowledge of psychiatric services provided by the hospital.
- Ability to work flexible hours.
- Requires a basic understanding of computers, and accurate data entry skills.
- Knowledge of insurance contracts and payors.
- Knowledge of precertification for inpatient hospitalization.
- Experience gathering and documenting medical and clinical information to assess and staff appropriately with physician.
- Ability to triage for medical and psychiatric needs.
- Working knowledge of DSM-V diagnostic criteria, mental status exam, and addiction and recovery field.
- Excellent customer service skills as evidenced by supportive and constructive communication with all contacts including coworkers, patients, visitors, families and referral sources.
- Graduate of accredited School of Nursing; bachelor's degree preferred
- One (1)-Three (3) years of experience preferred in psychiatric health care.
- Working knowledge of DSM-V diagnostic criteria, mental status exam, and addiction and recovery field.
- Licensure as a Registered Nurse in state of Arizona
