Position Summary
The Quality Engineer II will perform various quality engineering functions and support quality assurance duties, including supplier quality requirement flow downs, support of the overall quality management system, monitoring of quality KPIs, quality data analysis, reporting, quality performance assessment, determining opportunities to improve process and product quality, and scoping, planning, and taking action to problem solve or lead continuous improvement projects.
Roles & Responsibilities- Respond to and perform RCCA for customer complaints and product returns.
- Support customers during site audits and evaluations.
- Interpret customer contracts, POs, specifications, drawing notes, and requirements.
- Obtain access to customer portals.
- Create, revise, and implement technical QE tasks such as MRRs, CARs, MRB dispositions, QC items, purges, VIRs (plus RFI, RFV, and QN), QC approvals, SDMRs, VFP, WO, drawing and DCN revisions.
- Obtain Quality Assurance Engineer qualification.
- Collaborate in the design, implementation, and utilization of formal quality tools (process mapping, FMEAs, control plans, process controls).
- Define supplier quality requirements and ensure alignment to customer and Sargent requirements.
- Lead and assist with Gage R&R studies and define inspection methods and equipment.
- Enter data into the CSI system as necessary, as it relates to MRRs.
- Assist with First Article Inspection (FAI) planning and reviews.
- Participate in the Tier II daily meeting, reporting on COPQ, MRR effectiveness, and RMA status.
- Support the QMS by creating, revising, and updating procedures, work instructions, and forms.
- Respond to customer questionnaires and surveys, and act as the point of contact for visits.
- Participate in the QMS internal audit program.
- Lead problem solving and collaborate on quality improvement projects.
- Lead and assist with data analysis to identify trends and opportunities for COPQ reduction and MRR effectiveness and efficiency.
- Lead and/or collaborate in root cause analysis, planning, and implementation of corrective and preventive actions.
- Associate degree or four years of quality assurance experience.
- Familiarity with quality tools (root cause analysis, measurement system analysis, process reviews, Pareto analysis, FMEA, basic process control design).
- Proven knowledge of quality management system standards.
- Ability to read and understand drawings, including GD&T.
- Internal auditor experience to AS9100 quality system.
- Ability to track and analyze quality metrics, statistical control analysis, and critical thinking methodologies.
- Analytical and creative thinking with sound judgment and decision‑making skills.
- Excellent customer service skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and handle conflicting priorities.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
- Technical writing experience.
- Must be a U.S. citizen.
- Bachelor of Science degree.
- ASQ-CQE or CQA certification.
- Experience with DFARS (Defense Acquisition Regulations System).
- AS9100 auditor certification.
- Experience with continuous improvement techniques.
- Material Review Board experience.
- Experience with DCAA and FAA.
- Lean or Six Sigma experience (Yellow Belt or above).
- Previous experience as a customer delegated inspector.
- Ability to sit at a desk and work with a computer for extended periods.
- Ability to move safely in various work environments, from office to manufacturing floor.
- Ability to remain on the manufacturing floor for extended periods while meeting safety requirements.
