Postdoctoral Research Associate I, School of Geography, Development & Environment

The University of Arizona School of Geography, Development & Environment invites application for a Postdoctoral Research Associate to support the NSF‑funded project, "Assessing past and future Colorado River droughts in the context of a Holocene wetting trend." The postdoctoral researcher will lead dendrochronological laboratory work and contribute to hydroclimatic and dendroclimatic data analysis, field collections, and project publications. Duties & Responsibilities
  • Lead dendrochronological lab work, including sample preparation, dating, measuring, chronology development, and data archiving.
  • Assist in hydroclimatic and dendroclimatic data analysis and visualization.
  • Provide written and graphical support for project reports and publications.
  • Support field collections and sample preparation.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
  • Ability to work independently as part of a project team, both in person and remotely.
  • Strong communication skills, including ability to present to a general audience.
  • Current knowledge of dendroclimatology literature.
Minimum Qualifications
  • PhD in Earth System Science, Paleo climatology, Climatology, or related field, awarded by the start of the position.
  • Experience with dendrochronological sample preparation, cross‑dating, tree‑ring measuring systems, standardization approaches, chronology development, and dendrochronology programs such as ARSTAN and COFECHA.
  • Experience with a statistical programming language, such as R or MATLAB.
  • Experience with time series analysis and scientific writing.
Preferred Qualifications

Experience with dendrochronology programs and advanced data analysis methods.
