The Tigreros Lab in the Department of Entomology seeks a motivated Research Technician to support studies on the physiological and ecological mechanisms shaping growth and reproduction in herbivorous insects. This is an Extended Temporary Employment (ETE) position with possible renewal depending on available funding. - Coordinate with the project PI and work closely with undergraduate researchers under the direction of the PI.
- Help design experiments, conduct behavioral and physiological assays, perform data entry and basic analysis with assistance of the PI.
- Assist with keeping the lab organized and running smoothly.
- Assist in rearing insects and propagating plants.
- Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and similar software.
- Valid Driver’s license and ability to drive according to the University Fleet Safety Policy.
- High School diploma or High School Diploma Equivalency required.
- B.S. degree in biology, entomology, ecology, or related field.
- Laboratory research experience.
- Research experience with insects and/or plants.
- Knowledge of biostatistics.
- Experience with respirometry and/or stable isotopes techniques.
Hours per week: 28–36 (based on 0.70–0.90 FTE). Pay rate: $16.50–$18.75 hourly. Contract type:
Non‑Exempt, Mid‑level (OC1), Research & Lab.
