Location:

University of Arizona Health Sciences, Tucson, AZ. The Chen lab in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology at the R. Ken Coit College of Pharmacy is seeking a postdoctoral fellow to investigate molecular mechanisms underlying lung infections (viral or fungal) and chronic lung diseases such as asthma. Research in the Chen lab is supported by multiple NIH R01 grants and focuses on molecular immunology and inflammatory mechanisms.

The lab uses cutting-edge models (primary cell/organoid cultures, mouse models and human clinical samples) and technologies (scRNA-seq, CRISPR). The PI is experienced in mentoring postdoctoral trainees and is supportive of career development.

• Lead an NIH-funded project studying inflammation and immunology in lung diseases.
• Screen literature, perform critical analysis of prior research, design and execute experiments, troubleshoot as needed.
• Write manuscripts, and present data in research conferences. Contribute to grant applications.

• Strong background knowledge in molecular and cellular biology techniques (qPCR, Western blot, CRISPR, etc.).
• Knowledge of in vitro cell models and in vivo animal models (viral/fungal).
• Knowledge of general pathophysiology and molecular biology.
• Proficiency in data analysis.
• Strong problem-solving and experimental design skills.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Ability to work independently and in collaborative, multidisciplinary teams.

• Doctorate degree such as PhD or MD in biochemistry, molecular biology, immunology or related field is required. Proven research record, including at least two first-author publications in peer-reviewed journals.
• Three (3) or more years of Post Doc experience.

• Expertise in immunology or prior research experience in lung disease models or first-author publication(s) in high-impact journals.
