Postdoctoral Research Associate I - Spawning Sonoran Suckers
The Department of Environmental Science is seeking applications for a Postdoctoral Research Associate I to develop procedures to induce ripening and spawning of captive Sonoran Sucker brood stock in captivity. This position will develop procedures to hatch eggs and rear fry to fingerling stage. They will also document the processes and present to project sponsors, Arizona Game and Fish and the professional aquaculture community.
Duties & Responsibilities- Maintain and operate multiple recirculating aquaculture systems in a greenhouse.
- Work with students to monitor and adjust water quality parameters in the RAS.
- Develop protocols to induce spawning and rearing of young fish.
- Maintain hatchery system for rotifers and Artemia.
- Document activities and contribute to preparation of reports to project sponsors.
- Contribute to manuscript for publication in a professional journal as lead author.
- Ability to swim.
- PhD in aquatic biology, fisheries or related field.
- Experience with reproductive biology of fish.
- Experience with maintaining live fish and reproducing them in captivity.
