On Call Archaeology Field Technician (West)
WSP is hiring On Call Archaeology Field Technicians with 1+ years of experience for project work in Arizona and New Mexico. Selected candidates will collaborate with the Earth & Environment Cultural Resource Team to perform field surveys, data recovery, and monitoring, and will have opportunities for ongoing projects across the Western United States.
Essential Responsibilities- Conduct Class I–Class III assessments and develop avoidance recommendations.
- Participate in heritage and cultural resource investigations supporting client projects, ensuring compliance with NEPA, NHPA, NAGPRA, and other federal, state, and local regulations.
- Travel to project sites in Arizona and New Mexico; per diem will be provided.
- Operate field equipment and digital data collection tools, and prepare digital data for reporting.
- BA/BS in Archaeology, Anthropology, History, or related field (MS/MA preferred).
- 1–3 years of professional experience in archaeological research, analysis, planning, and resource management.
- Excellent interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- Working knowledge of cultural resource and environmental regulations, including NHPA, ARPA, NAGPRA, and state laws.
- Proficient with SharePoint and Microsoft Office suite.
- Demonstrated ability to perform pedestrian surveys and carry up to 25 lb. of gear.
- Ability to work in hot, dry, high‑desert conditions and travel to remote locations for 10‑day rotations, including potential camping.
- Must pass a background check and WSP’s Motor Vehicle screening.
- Previous work experience in the western U.S.
- Large‑scale terrestrial survey project experience.
- Experience in Great Basin and/or Southwestern fieldwork.
Hourly pay range: $26–$30.
