On Call Archaeology Field Technician – WSP
WSP invites applications for On Call Archaeology Field Technicians with 1+ years of experience for project work in Arizona and New Mexico. Selected applicants will work with the Earth & Environment Cultural Resource Team on survey and mitigation assignments, including testing, data recovery, and monitoring.
Responsibilities- Assist senior archaeologists and supervisory field staff in conducting Class I–Class III assessments and heritage investigations.
- Perform pedestrian surveys, collect and prepare digital data for reporting, and contribute to the completion of state IMACS forms.
- Support compliance with NEPA, NHPA, NAGPRA, and applicable state and local regulations.
- Travel to project sites in Arizona and New Mexico; per diem provided.
- Work in hot, dry, high‑desert conditions and carry up to 25 lbs. of gear.
- BA/BS in Archaeology, Anthropology, History, or a related field (MS/MA preferred).
- 1–3 years of professional experience researching, analyzing, and managing archaeological and historic preservation plans.
- Knowledge of cultural resource and environmental regulations.
- Experience with digital data collection software and hardware; familiarity with state IMACS forms.
- Proficiency with SharePoint and Microsoft Office.
- Understanding of NHPA, ARPA, NAGPRA, and relevant state laws.
- Ability to pass background check and WSP’s motor‑vehicle screening.
- Willingness to travel to remote project locations for 10‑day rotations; readiness to camp.
- Experience working in the western United States.
- Large‑scale terrestrial survey project experience.
- Great Basin and/or Southwestern fieldwork experience.
Hourly pay rate range: $26–$30.
