Senior Sales Manager – Mining
A key leadership role within Caterpillar's Sales team, responsible for driving success across our Load & Haul portfolio in the mining industry.
Responsibilities- Lead a global team of 7 Product Application Specialists to deliver exceptional customer experiences and achieve global business objectives.
- Provide value selling and deal support, acting as the go-to authority for global application expertise across field teams, dealers, and customers.
- Ensure optimal machine selection and configuration through Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) analysis, competitive benchmarking, and production studies.
- Drive profitability by balancing volume and price realization, serving as the price/value consultant for major deals.
- Own technical product sales content, including value proposition materials and training programs for regional teams.
- Champion the Voice of the Customer, translating insights into actionable product requirements.
- Host customer visits, deliver impactful presentations, and lead machine walkarounds.
- Support go-to-market strategies and launch new products globally.
- Define product roadmaps and multi-generational product plans, overseeing financials, GTM deliverables, and pilot machine placements.
- Knowledge of mining applications, with underground mining experience considered an advantage.
- Previous experience in marketing, distribution, product support, field operations, supervisory roles, and/or direct sales.
- Strong sales skills focused on value selling and high-impact deal prioritization.
- Deep understanding of mining industry customer needs and operational challenges.
- Experience with product and service expertise in mining equipment and technology.
- Proven analytical decision-making ability, evaluating risks, opportunities, and profitability.
- Excellent communication skills for conveying technical and commercial information.
- Experienced negotiator for high‑value equipment, mentoring the team.
- Strong relationship management with customers, dealers, and internal stakeholders.
Primary work location:
Tucson, AZ or Peoria, IL. Requires on‑site, full‑time presence at a Caterpillar facility. Up to 50% travel may be required.
Summary pay range: $169,320 – $253,920.
