West Land is seeking a full-time Archaeology Laboratory Arizona State Museum (ASM) Coordinator to join our Southwest Cultural Resources team. The Archaeology Laboratory ASM Coordinator performs laboratory tasks for Cultural Resources projects. Primary responsibilities include all ASM tasks related to projects conducted under West Land's Arizona Antiquities Act permits including submitting ASM quotes, processing invoices, completing and submitting ASM paperwork, and preparing project registrations.

Additional laboratory-based tasks may also be completed depending on workload including but not limited to processing and cataloging materials, entering artifact collections into databases, performing preliminary analysis, and assisting with laboratory maintenance and organization. This role requires attention to detail, organization and communication skills, adherence to artifact handling protocols, and the ability to work collaboratively with field and laboratory teams.

What

will I be doing?
  • Submit Arizona State Museum (ASM) quote for services and pay invoice in coordination with project manager
  • Complete and submit ASM paperwork (including NOI, accession, project specific permit application, burial discovery agreement, repository agreement forms, project registration forms)
  • Complete ASM/AZSITE site card modules.
  • Schedule and conduct Class I records checks at the ASM and other agencies
  • Compile and submit ASM registrations.
  • Report ASM project progress to the Laboratory Director.
  • Apply repository requirements for preparation, handling, and storage of archaeological project collections at the direction of the Collections Manager.
  • Complete curation tasks as detailed by the repository in which the curation agreement is held at the direction of the Collections Manager.
  • Implement proper artifact handling, cleaning, labeling, treatment, and storage techniques appropriate for artifact type.
  • Meet deadlines and project budgets while ensuring quality assurance.
  • Maintain a clean and safe working environment.
  • Maintain confidentiality regarding employee and company information.
  • Support open, cooperative, and engaged communication.
  • Actively participate in meetings and contribute positively to the company's team.
  • Ensure effective coverage for areas of responsibility.
  • Perform duties in alignment with the company's mission, vision, and values.
What qualifications are required for this role?
  • Associate's degree in Archaeology, Anthropology, or related field required, Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Prior related archaeology experience may substitute for educational requirements.
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Suite, including MS Access.
  • Ability to work effectively as part of a cohesive team.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and creative environment.
  • Familiarity with ASM procedures and requirements preferred.

The salary range for this position is $20.00 - $26.00 per hour.
