Brief Description

The Activities Manager is responsible for planning, organizing, and implementing a variety of activities that engage guests and promote physical, mental, and emotional well‑being. Other duties include, but are not limited to, the following:

General Activities
  • Develop and maintain a schedule of activities and communicate it to guests and staff.
  • Execute activities, ensuring they are engaging and tailored to guests’ needs and interests.
  • Coordinate and physically set up and break down activities.
  • Design activities that enrich guests’ lives with mental, physical, and spiritual exercise and socialization.
  • Maintain records of activity participation and program effectiveness, making adjustments as needed.
  • Adapt activities to meet diverse guest needs, including those with disabilities or special requirements.
  • Promote activities, encourage participation, and foster community among guests.
  • Ensure a safe environment for all guests, adhering to safety regulations and guidelines.
  • Uphold GRM’s Standard of Excellence and culture.
  • Manage the activities budget and purchase supplies and equipment, utilizing donations first.
  • Oversee and supervise guests/volunteers assisting with and participating in GRM’s activities.
  • Gather feedback, evaluate program effectiveness, and implement improvements based on data.
  • Collaborate with other community‑facing teams and attend GRM events as assigned.
  • Record and report outcomes of GRM program efforts as outlined in the department playbook.

  • Collaborate effectively with other community‑facing teams at GRM.
Focus
  • Plan and organize activity schedules, budgets, and coordination with staff.
  • Build strong relationships with guests through community building.
  • Promote engagement, social interaction, and mental/physical stimulation via diverse activities.
Professional Development
  • Complete all assigned training (onboarding, basic training, OPPD, etc.).
  • Attend staff meetings as directed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
  • Bachelor’s degree in recreation, social work, therapeutic recreation, or related field preferred, or 2 years of professional experience coordinating and supervising recreation activities, event planning, or special events.
  • Nonprofit experience and familiarity with serving those in recovery and homeless populations preferred.
  • Proficient verbal and written communication skills.
  • Expert user of Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Meticulous attention to detail, active listening, and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Valid Arizona Driver’s License with a clean driving record.
  • Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
  • Must be Christian, living a life dedicated to Christ, and an instrument of God’s love, grace, hope, and forgiveness to all.
Physical Demands
  • Some local travel to other locations for business‑related needs or events.
  • Frequent sitting, standing, walking, and lifting/carrying/pushing/pulling objects up to 50 pounds.
Mental Demands
  • Population served may be in crisis, potentially causing emotional stress and compassion fatigue; GRM highly promotes employee self‑care.
Employment Status
  • Full‑time 40 hours per week, exempt; eligible for paid time off and benefits.
  • Flexible schedule; may require weekend and evening events.
  • BFOQ (Bona Fide Occupational Qualification) Faith‑aligned.

Reports to: Program Services Director

Starting rate of pay: $40,000.00
