Candidates who are successfully employed as Case Aide for five (4) years will be eligible to apply for a promotional opportunity to a DCS Specialist Trainee Position ($21.70 hourly).

Responsibilities

A DCS Visitation Case Aide is responsible for safely escorting and/or transporting clients to Department of Child Safety's (DCS) visitation meetings and documenting observations.

A Day in the Life
  • Supervising visitation meetings among clients (parents and children)
  • Entering case notes into the computer‑based Case Management System
  • Driving on state business to transport children to appointments, etc.
  • Performs other duties appropriate to the assignment

Alternative work hours may be required, including overtime, weekends and holidays.

Knowledge,

Skills and Abilities

Knowledge of:

  • Computers and software (Microsoft Office Suite), mobile devices, digital calendars (Outlook) & video conferencing (Microsoft Teams).

Skill in:

  • Establishing and maintaining interpersonal relationships; general clerical functions such as data entry and filling; verbal and written communication; eliciting and gathering information; modeling professional behavior with clients; time management and multi‑tasking; and observation.

Ability to:

  • Gain knowledge on information regarding human and social services; understand and adhere to related State, Federal and local laws, as well as, DCS policies and procedures; comply with casework principles and practices; comprehend and follow moderately complex written and oral instructions; organize data in a logical and coherent manner; prepare written reports accurately in a prescribed format; actively listen and provide supportive attention to clients;

    acquire and renew CPR Certification.
Requirements
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Valid issued driver's license
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid Arizona Department of Public Safety Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Must maintain a current, valid class‑appropriate driver's license, complete all required training, and successfully pass all necessary driver's license record checks. Drive on state business and maintain acceptable driving records.
  • Must pass a written exam, background investigation, Motor Vehicle Report check and DCS Central Registry check.
  • All newly hired State employees must successfully complete the Electronic Employment Eligibility Verification Program (E‑Verify).
