Apex has an opportunity for a Software Engineer located in Tucson, Arizona – on‑site. The position is for a 12‑month contract with possibility of extension or conversion. Salary is negotiable based on experience. You must hold an active Secret Security Clearance at the start of employment.

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Software Engineer with strong object‑oriented development experience in C# and C++ using Microsoft Visual Studio on Windows OS. Ideal candidates have a STEM degree and 5+ years of industry experience (or 3+ years with an advanced degree) and thrive in multidisciplinary engineering teams.

The Test Equipment Engineering (TEE) team within the Specialty Engineering Directorate develops advanced Windows application solutions for all Raytheon products. The selected candidate will design, develop, integrate, and maintain software as part of on‑site factory support for weapon system product development. Typical work involves desktop, production, and post‑production activities across the entire engineering lifecycle.

• Design, develop, and integrate object‑oriented software applications using C# and C++.
• Troubleshoot software and test equipment instrumentation.
• Prioritize and manage multiple software engineering tasks concurrently.
• Lead and mentor junior software engineers.
• Develop and derive software product requirements.
• Create and optimize computer architectures and hardware interfaces.
• Develop software drivers for hardware operation.
• Work with data protocols and interfaces such as TCP/IP, UDP, RS-422.
• Utilize UML to visualize software architecture and design.
• Operate within software development life cycles including Waterfall and Agile.
• Apply Software Configuration Management principles using Azure Dev Ops Server or Git Hub.

• Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics).
• Minimum 5 years of relevant industry experience (or 3 years with an advanced degree).
• Proficiency in C#, C++, and Microsoft Visual Studio.
• Experience with Windows OS development.
• Strong understanding of computer hardware and software integration.
• Familiarity with network protocols and hardware interfaces.
• Experience with UML and software lifecycle methodologies.
• Active Secret Security Clearance required at start.
• U.S. Citizenship required.
