Overview
The City of Tukwila Parks & Recreation Department is seeking enthusiastic, responsible, and energetic Youth After school Activities Program (ASAP) Recreation Leaders to join our team. ASAP is a fun, active, and safe after school program that provides children with meaningful enrichment, recreation, and social connection at the end of each school day.
ASAP operates Monday through Friday, from school dismissal until 6:00 p.m., and serves students in Kindergarten through 5th Grade. Recreation Leaders play a vital role in creating a welcoming, engaging, and safe environment where youth can learn, play, and thrive. Position OverviewAs an ASAP Recreation Leader, you will engage elementary-aged youth in a variety of enrichment activities, games, and creative experiences in accordance with Child Abuse Prevention guidelines. Recreation Leaders serve as positive role models and help foster confidence, creativity, teamwork, and fun—whether through arts and crafts, music, active games, or imaginative play. This position offers hands-on experience in youth development, program facilitation, and recreation leadership in a supportive team environment.

- Assist with the general supervision of after school youth programs.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of program participants and maintain a clean, safe working environment.
- Maintain and oversee the proper use and care of equipment and supplies.
- Enforce facility, equipment, and program rules, taking appropriate corrective action when necessary.
- Complete and maintain required forms, reports, and documentation.
- Assist with planning, scheduling, and organizing daily activities, special events, and enrichment opportunities.
- Work collaboratively as a team player and assist other staff as needed.
- Perform other related duties as assigned based on program needs.
- Experience leading or working with youth in one or more of the following areas: enrichment, recreational, arts and crafts, music, drama, or sports.
- Strong organizational, interpersonal, and energetic communication skills.
- Experience assisting with planning, coordinating, or implementing youth programs.
- Ability to work the full season and attend all required staff meetings.
- Bilingual language skills are a plus.
- Friendly, positive, and supportive customer service skills.
- Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with youth, families, coworkers, and the public.
- Ability to work independently or with minimal supervision.
