Cost Accountant – Tukwila, WA
Location: Tukwila, WA
Type: Permanent, Direct Hire
Pay: $80,000 – $100,000/yr.

The Cost Accountant plays a critical role within the Finance team, responsible for delivering accurate product and project costing, enhancing margin transparency, supporting operational decision‑making, and reinforcing effective cost controls.
Key Responsibilities
- Build, maintain, and update standard cost structures for manufactured products within the ERP system.
- Oversee project‑based costing for engineered‑to‑order products, including project setup, tracking, and detailed analysis.
- Analyze and maintain inventory valuation for raw materials, work‑in‑process (WIP), semi‑finished, and finished goods.
- Perform weekly and monthly WIP analyses and reconciliations, including project‑level WIP reporting.
- Support annual and periodic standard cost updates and re‑costing initiatives.
- Monitor, analyze, and explain manufacturing variances related to materials, labor, and overhead.
- Maintain accurate product and cost‑related financial master data within the ERP system.
- Support month‑end close activities related to inventory, WIP, and cost of goods sold (COGS).
- Prepare margin, variance, and profitability reporting by product, product line, customer, and project.
- Collaborate cross‑functionally with Engineering, Operations, and Sales on cost estimates, quoting, pricing strategies, and cost improvement initiatives.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
- 3–7 years of cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
- Experience in project‑based or engineer‑to‑order manufacturing strongly preferred.
- Solid knowledge of standard costing, inventory accounting, and manufacturing variance analysis.
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with exceptional attention to detail.
- Proficiency with ERP systems (e.g., Net Suite, SAP, Epicor, or similar platforms).
- Advanced Excel capabilities, including pivot tables, lookups, and financial modeling.
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities in a fast‑paced setting.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills across finance, engineering, operations, sales, and supply chain teams.
