Overview

Join to apply for the Assistant in Training role at The Buckle, Inc. The Assistant in Training (AIT) and Assistant Manager position’s primary responsibility is to fulfill our mission statement, “to create the most enjoyable shopping experience possible for our Guests.” The AIT and Assistant Managers perform a variety of sales, merchandising and operational tasks assigned by store management (e.g. cashiering, merchandise display and pulls, register procedures, and routine cleaning of facilities).

Work directly with the Store Manager and Leadership Team to develop sales, recruit new Teammates and provide leadership. The AIT and Assistant Manager will also share responsibility for training and motivating Teammates and act as the Store Manager in their absence. The Assistant Manager Position is a progression from the AIT position and therefore includes additional high level duties that are specific to that position, though the majority of job duties and responsibilities are shared.

Responsibilities
  • Sales Generation and Guest Service:
    Greet Guests with a friendly, engaging attitude; provide legendary service; answer questions; recommend, select, locate, and obtain merchandise based on Guest needs; anticipate needs and create a wardrobe experience; demonstrate product knowledge and share education with Team; maintain knowledge of current sales, promotions, payment policies, and security practices; achieve personal sales metrics and provide service in Front 5, sales floor, fitting rooms, and register area;

    manage exchanges/returns and use the Sales Presentation Guide (SPG).
  • Team Recruiting, Training and Development:
    Recognize recruiting opportunities; coach and develop new Teammates; lead, motivate and educate Teammates to meet standards; maintain positive floor culture; model dress code; participate in training and Performance Tracker; motivate completion of daily tasks; develop denim showmanship; execute department calendars and weekly delegation; lead segments and train on leadership playbooks; responsible for training non-sales positions and updating team on training needs.
  • Visual Merchandise Management:
    Own and influence product through zone ownership; execute new tools/videos; delegate and review all zones; ensure Visual Standards and weekly checklists are followed; recognize merchandising opportunities; lead store tours; ensure freight/display is current; use Performance Tracker to drive store performance; anticipate product changes to improve visuals.
  • Operations:
    Maintain flexible schedule; complete opening/closing checklists; monitor security risks and follow Loss Prevention guidelines; manage POS procedures; handle communications from Corporate Office; keep a positive attitude; navigate payments, returns, exchanges, and Loss Prevention practices; complete scheduled shifts; maintain a clean, organized store; provide feedback on merchandise handling; report policy concerns to leadership and HR; follow Code of Ethics; support weekend/holiday needs.
  • Supervisory and Leadership:
    Give and receive feedback; support Leadership; promote growth; maintain professional relationships; conduct interviews; problem-solve; self-educate on company tools; travel to cover other stores as needed; manage schedule changes; contribute to store mission with high customer service and team spirit; handle special projects and other duties.

Qualifications
  • Education:

    High school diploma or GED; or 1-3 months related retail experience or equivalent.
  • Physical:
    Ability to stand, walk, use hands, and lift up to 50 lbs; visual capabilities as described in original posting.
