Overview
The primary purpose of the Nurse Practitioner is to maintain patient care within the center by providing MAT services within the parameters of policy, state, and federal regulations and procedures. The Nurse Practitioner is an essential part of creating a safe and well-balanced environment for ReVIDA’s patients. The position creates an atmosphere of warmth, personal interest, positive emphasis, and a calm attitude when visiting with staff, patients, and visitors.
Responsibilities- Work effectively within a multidisciplinary treatment team; assist in complex problem solving with patients and work autonomously.
- Demonstrate excellent observation, good judgment, and communication skills; provide well-written documentation promptly.
- Conduct assessments and utilize ASAM criteria for appropriate patient placement and continued justification; develop and implement treatment plans; coordinate services; provide crisis intervention.
- Apply knowledge of local community drug trends, effects on the body and cognitive functioning of drugs of abuse, signs and symptoms of opioid overdose, psychosocial implications of substance use disorders, and the processes of addiction and treatment.
- Understand social service, economic, legal, and medical systems; HIV transmission health; and behavioral and emotional implications of addiction.
- Work is sedentary and ambulant with occasional physical exertion; lifting 30 or more pounds; the ability to support patient weight in emergencies or when disability requires assistance.
- Must be able to see, stoop, sit, stand, bend, reach, and be mobile (with or without accommodation).
- Quality of hearing must be acceptable; must be able to communicate verbally and in writing; relate to and work with mentally and physically ill, disabled, emotionally upset, and hostile patients; be emotionally stable and able to cope with multiple situations.
- Risk of exposure to infections, blood borne pathogens, and other potentially infectious materials; follow Universal Precautions; comply with workplace violence, ADA, EEOC, and Corporate Compliance programs; commitment to worker and patient safety; subject to schedule and shift changes.
- Supervision and competency evaluations are provided through facility monitoring activities, direct observation, staff meetings, in-services, management meetings, individual meetings, Employee Improvement Process, reporting, interactions, strategic planning, outcomes, and annual competency review.
- Practice current evidence-based guidelines in medications for opioid use disorder (MOUD) treatment programs.
- Knowledge of teaching and instructing patients; human behavior and performance; learning and motivation; evidence-based practices; and assessment and treatment of behavioral and affective disorders.
- Knowledge of medications, including drug classifications, dosing, interactions, abbreviations, regimens, formulations, and formulary status.
- Basic computer literacy, including electronic health records documentation and e-prescribing.
- Motivational Interviewing and active listening; effective time management and communication skills.
- Ability to provide compassionate, evidence-based care to individuals with substance use disorders; understanding addiction as a chronic disease and benefits of positive reinforcement treatment approaches.
- Ability to practice autonomously in compliance with operations manual treatment guidelines; guidance available from the medical director under a collaborative practice agreement.
- Strong written and oral communication; working knowledge of HIPAA, 42 CFR Part 2, and Confidentiality for Substance Abuse Records Regulations.
- Ability to assist in medical decision-making aligned with REVIDA RECOVERY CENTER policies; provide backup call coverage; teach and develop other personnel.
- Collaborate with referral sources, internal team members, and external service providers for continuity of care; interpret test results; provide patient feedback.
- Complete patient evaluations and physical exams with thorough, timely documentation; coordinate care; document for professional billing; conduct follow-up visits with progress notes on medications and/or treatment.
- Participate in provider and staff meetings as directed by the Medical Director; lead in new findings in addictions treatment; demonstrate use of evidence-based practices; commit to process improvement.
- Education:
Master of Nursing - Experience:
Experience working with individuals with substance use and other co-occurring mental disorders. - Licenses/Certifications:
Licensed in the State of TN or VA and must have or be able to obtain a DATA
2000 waiver to prescribe buprenorphine. - Background check:
Ability to pass routine state/federal criminal background checks and be eligible for credentialing under CMS and commercial health plans.
