Surgical Services

The Sterile Processing Technician works under the supervision of the manager or designee in maintaining, disinfecting, sterilization and processing of surgical instruments and supplies.

• Sterile processing experience required.
• Must have one of the following certifications in order to be considered:
  • Certified Registered Central Service Technician – Healthcare Sterile Processing Association
  • Certified Sterile Processing Technician – The Certification Board for Sterile Processing and Distribution, Inc.

• Maintain a clean, orderly work area while handling various types of equipment, instruments, and supplies used during surgical procedures.
• Clean, disinfect, and sterilize instrumentation, equipment and supplies for the OR and other areas as needed.
• Keep accurate quality control records regarding Bowie‑Dick Tests, Biologics and individual load records.
• Ensure adequate inventory of necessary supplies for the Sterile Processing department and order as needed.
• Transport sterile supplies and equipment to other areas of the hospital.
• Maintain and care for equipment and supplies. Document maintenance and repairs.
• Maintain department records, reports and files as required.
• Enhance professional growth and development through participation in educational programs.
• Consistently provide accurate and complete hand‑off communication to any healthcare provider according to hospital policy.
• Attend 80% of all department meetings and review and initial all department minutes missed.
• Perform other related duties as assigned or requested.
