Overview
Senior Director of Accounting — Sparta, TN (relocation assistance available). This role reports to the CFO and is responsible for overseeing accounting operations, ensuring the integrity of financial information, and leading accounting teams in Sparta and the Canadian organization. The position requires development and implementation of accounting policies, procedures, and controls to support strategic objectives and regulatory compliance.
Base pay range: $/yr - $/yr. Travel up to 30% of time, with frequent visits to the Canadian operation.
Responsibilities- Lead and manage the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and financial reporting.
- Oversee the preparation of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with GAAP/IFRS and, where applicable, Canadian GAAP.
- Ensure timely and accurate closing of the books and reconciliation of accounts.
- Develop, implement, and monitor internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
- Coordinate and manage external audits and act as the primary liaison with auditors.
- Provide financial analysis and insights to support business decisions and strategic planning.
- Oversee tax planning, compliance, and filings in coordination with external advisors.
- Mentor, train, and develop accounting staff, fostering a culture of continuous improvement.
- Evaluate and implement accounting systems and process improvements.
- Collaborate with other departments to support company-wide initiatives and projects.
- 10+ years of experience.
- Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting or a related field.
- CPA or similar designation is a plus.
- Strong leadership skills with experience partnering at the executive management level.
- Advanced proficiency in financial modeling, forecasting, and data analysis tools.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and manage multiple priorities.
- Solid understanding of accounting principles and financial regulations.
- Experience with SAP implementations and operations.
The Senior Director of Accounting will travel up to 30% of time. Requires frequent visits to the Canadian operation.
