Tulsa Christian Bros Painting is one of Oklahoma’s largest residential and commercial painting contractors, managing over 100 painters across projects statewide. We are a stable, growing company built on accountability, accuracy, and teamwork.
We are hiring an Accounting Manager / Controller with construction or trades accounting experience to oversee financial operations, job-cost visibility, cash flow management, and accounts receivable collections. This role directly manages a bookkeeper and works closely with leadership and an external finance consultant.
This is a hands‑on role for someone who understands construction accounting — job costing, retainage, progress billing, and the urgency of getting paid.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee all day‑to‑day accounting operations including AP, AR, reconciliations, and month‑end close
- Manage and develop the bookkeeper responsible for daily entries, payables, and receivables
- Maintain daily visibility into cash flow, AR aging, and upcoming financial obligations
- Own AR collections with general contractors, including consistent follow‑up and escalation
- Prepare and maintain weekly cash‑flow forecasts and provide updates to leadership
- Track and verify job costing accuracy across labor, materials, subcontractors, and budgets
- Monitor project budgets and gross margins, ensuring alignment with targets
- Prepare and analyze monthly P&L, balance sheet, job profitability, and supporting reports
- Review and oversee progress billing, retainage tracking, and GC documentation requirements
- Verify accuracy of AIA pay applications and similar progress billing formats
- Ensure accuracy and consistency within Quick Books Online and related workflow systems
- Maintain accounting documentation required for audits, insurance, and compliance
- Collaborate with leadership and the finance consultant on reporting and financial strategy
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (required)
- Construction or trades accounting experience (required)
- 4+ years of full‑cycle accounting experience
- Hands‑on experience with job costing and project‑based accounting
- Experience with progress billing / AIA invoicing and retainage
- Experience managing AR and collections with general contractors
- Proficiency in Quick Books Online and Microsoft Excel (formulas, pivot tables)
- Prior experience supervising or mentoring accounting staff
- Strong organizational skills, professionalism, and confidentiality
