PermanentA growing organization is seeking an Accounting Supervisor to oversee its accounts payable and accounts receivable functions. This is a hands-on role with a strong emphasis on accounts receivable, progress billing, collections, revenue recognition, and process improvement.

The ideal candidate is a self-starter who can work independently, identify opportunities to improve processes, and take ownership from start to finish. This person will work closely with internal teams to ensure accurate billing, timely collections, proper accounting, and compliance with applicable tax requirements. The anticipated salary for this role is between $90,000 and $95,000 a year plus bonus.

Responsibilities:
· Oversee the day-to-day AP and AR functions, including workflow management, accuracy, timeliness, and staff supervision.
· Take primary ownership of the accounts receivable process, including contract review, progress billing, invoicing, collections, and resolution of customer discrepancies.
· Ensure revenue and billing are properly recorded in accordance with contracts and applicable accounting principles.
· Monitor customer accounts, credit limits, outstanding balances, and collection activity to minimize bad debt.
· Ensure expenses, invoices, and other financial activity are accurately captured and properly accounted for.
· Reconcile AP and AR ledgers and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner.
· Oversee invoice generation using bills of lading, progress milestones, freight information, contracts, and other supporting documentation.
· Oversee the matching of purchase orders, receiving documentation, and vendor invoices to ensure accuracy.
· Manage and reconcile goods-received-not-invoiced accruals during month-end close.
· Prepare monthly and annual reports and provide financial information to management.
· Identify and implement process improvements across AP, AR, billing, and related accounting functions.
· Participate in the implementation and optimization of new accounting systems and processes.
· Take ownership of the organization's sales and use tax process across multiple states.
· Assist with the implementation and ongoing management of an automated sales tax solution.
· Monitor state tax requirements, nexus thresholds, taxability rules, and exemption/resale certificates.
· Prepare, review, and coordinate timely filing and remittance of sales and use tax returns.
· Partner with Sales, Operations, Order Management, and IT to ensure customers, products, and billing processes are properly configured.
· Develop and maintain accounting policies and procedures.
· Ensure compliance with GAAP and applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
· Jump in and assist with accounting responsibilities as needed in a hands-on environment.

Qualifications:

· Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred.
· 3–5+ years of progressive accounting experience with strong AR experience; AP experience also preferred.
· Prior supervisory or team leadership experience.
· Strong understanding of accounting principles, including revenue recognition and progress billing.
· Experience working with contracts, customer billing, collections, and account reconciliations.
· Manufacturing or project-based accounting experience strongly preferred.
· Experience with a manufacturing-focused ERP system;
Syteline experience is a plus.
· Sales and use tax experience is preferred, particularly experience supporting multiple states.
· Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
· Ability to identify process improvements and independently drive them through completion.
· Advanced Excel skills, including VLOOKUPs/XLOOKUPs, SUMIFs, Pivot Tables, and data analysis.
