Position: Staff Accountant | Client Advisory Services (CAS)
Staff Accountant | Client Advisory Services Do great work. Build a full life. And maybe even enjoy accounting.

Waymark Advisors | Tulsa/Claremore, Oklahoma | Hybrid

Salary: $55,000 to $65,000

We believe work is good.

It gives us a place to create, cultivate, solve problems, serve people, and leave things better than we found them.

We also believe work has limits.

At Waymark, we are not trying to build the biggest accounting firm.

We are trying to build a great one.

We are building a firm where clients receive excellent work, accountants become trusted advisors, relationships matter more than utilization reports, and people still have time and energy for the rest of their lives.

Our team takes real vacations. We make room for aging parents, kids' games, performances, and the family events that matter.

Most weeks, we work normal hours. We plan carefully, communicate early, tell the truth about capacity, and share the load so that overtime remains the rare exception rather than becoming the culture.

That does not mean we lack ambition.

We are ambitious about our craft, our clients, and the kind of firm we are building. We want to do excellent work, create something that matters, and develop accountants into thoughtful advisors.

We just do not believe exhaustion is evidence of excellence.

What the work actually looks like.

As a Staff Accountant on our Client Advisory Services team, you will help businesses, nonprofits, and entrepreneurs create order, understand their numbers, and build stronger financial foundations.

You will:

  • Maintain accurate accounting records for multiple organizations
  • Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations
  • Support monthly and year-end close processes
  • Assist with financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and analysis
  • Investigate accounting questions and solve problems
  • Improve processes, systems, reporting, and internal controls
  • Help clients through growth, acquisitions, financing, and other important moments

You will learn how organizations actually work, why the numbers matter, and how to turn financial information into guidance people can use.

Who we're looking for.

You may be a recent or upcoming accounting graduate or an early-career accountant ready for something different.

You should have:
  • A bachelor's degree in accounting or a closely related field, with sufficient accounting coursework to build a strong technical foundation
  • A solid understanding of accounting principles
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • A commitment to accuracy
  • Clear written and verbal communication
  • Curiosity, humility, and a willingness to learn
  • The ability to explain accounting without making people regret asking

We can teach software. Curiosity, character, and follow-through are harder to teach.

At Waymark, you will grow from recording what happened to helping shape what happens next. You will take on real responsibility, become a trusted advisor, and build a career that matters - without making accounting the measure of your whole life.

  • Learn directly from experienced accounting professionals
  • Work across multiple industries and business models
  • Build real client relationships early in your career
  • Receive support for CPE and CPA development
  • Build the judgment and confidence to offer guidance people can use
  • Do challenging, meaningful work at a sustainable pace
  • Take real time off - and return with the energy to do your best work

We are looking for someone who wants their work to matter, wants to become excellent at it, and understands that work is an important part of life, but it is not the whole of life

.

Salary and benefits:
  • Salary of $55,000 to $65,000, based on experience and qualifications
  • Hybrid work environment
  • Health insurance
  • 401(k) with company match
  • Paid time off and company holidays
  • Continuing education and CPA support
  • Mentorship and advancement opportunities
Is this your kind of different? This model is not for everyone.

But if you want to become a great accountant, serve real people, help organizations grow, and build a career that supports rather than consumes the rest of your life, we would love to meet you.
