Part‑Time Library Clerk – Hawn Memorial Library (Clayton)
The library clerk is primarily responsible for daily operations of the library, assisting staff, and the Director as needed. The library clerk shall assume the duties of the Director in his/her absence.
- Open the library, check book return
- Welcome patrons, and assist with book locations and holds
- Maintain order, serial collection, transit from NCLS, and overdue items
- Answer telephone and route calls
- Distribute mail, review and forward emails
- Assist on social media and create program flyers
- Record incoming cash
- Supervise volunteer staff, story hour and teen programming
- Assist in the mending of books
- Discard books under the Director’s supervision
- Must be able to lift boxes of books, be proficient with electronics, computer and copiers, and be available for night and weekend work
- Assist the Library Director as needed and request substitutes
16.00/hr & up to 20 hours per week, New York State Retirement, New York State Deferred Compensation

This is not a civil service position, however, all employees at Hawn Memorial Library are eligible for New York State Retirement and enrolling in New York State Deferred Compensation program.
