Job Summary: Responsible for planning and procuring material requirements to achieve the lowest possible overall cost, year‑over‑year productivity savings, and inventory reduction commitments for assigned parts and vendors. Analyze and forecast market data to secure the best price acquisition.
EssentialJob Duties And Responsibilities
- Identify, evaluate, and select suppliers for goods and services.
- Prepare, execute, and review requisitions and purchase orders for supplies and equipment to meet company standards.
- Provide commodity forecast data to suppliers and establish optimal order lot sizes and packaging quantities to support material flow and inventory objectives.
- Develop and maintain supplier relationships, monitor performance and compliance, and resolve any issues or disputes.
- Stay current on industry trends, price fluctuations, market conditions, and new products or services to inform purchasing decisions.
- Monitor and analyze costs, identifying opportunities to reduce expenses while preserving quality and service levels.
- Ensure all procurement activities adhere to company policies, regulations, and legal requirements.
- Attend vendor lunches, dinners, and optional team events to foster relationships.
- Coordinate activities with Scheduling, Manufacturing, and Engineering departments to meet deadlines.
- Analyze markets and delivery systems to determine current and future material availability.
- Expedite purchase orders and communicate expected delivery dates, ensuring accurate and up‑to‑date information is shared with Engineering to allow necessary deviations.
- High School Diploma or GED with at least three years of experience in business, supply chain management, or a related field.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Good decision‑making and problem‑solving abilities.
- Excellent organizational, multi‑tasking, and time‑management skills.
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and effectively in a team environment.
- Experience in a fast‑paced, high‑pressure environment.
- Strong negotiation skills.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Physical Requirements
- Indoor professional office setting.
- Frequent exposure to manufacturing facilities with seasonal temperature variations, dust, and limited chemical fumes.
- Hours include sitting or standing for up to 95% of work time.
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
