Overview

The Director of the Center for Student Success (CSS) oversees the CSS staff members and the department’s programs and initiatives that help support the University’s retention and persistence initiatives and goals. The Director oversees services and programs which include academic advising for undergraduate students, the First Year Studies Program, Tutoring Center, and Student Accessability Services. This position also works closely with the Information Technology Department to ensure successful implementation and management of the EAB Navigate product and other student success technology initiatives with a primary function to create a cohesive program structure focused on academic success and retention by counseling, advising, outreach efforts, registration support, and monitoring activities of all undergraduate students.

The Director works alongside other managers within the Solution Central operation at the University to provide broad-based student-centered services to meet the personal, professional, social, and educational needs of our students.

Responsibilities
  • Manages the EAB Navigate product. Leads the complete research, assessments and metrics and offers strategies for retention, progress and matriculation of students.
  • Oversees the administration of student success and retention programs, and works in cooperation with academic departments and student life departments.
  • Develops and implements the First-Year Studies Program (FYSP) curriculum.
  • Teach a minimum of one section of the FYSP course in the fall semester.
  • Coordinate department's involvement in all Admissions office activities and participates in all new recruitment and student orientation activities as requested.
  • Maintain the CSS website as a central location for all department services and students.
  • Partner with appropriate university departments including Academic Affairs, Student Experience, Counseling Center, and Residence Life to inform and prepare undergraduate students for success.
  • Manage academic consultation and course registration/selection process; register students for courses as appropriate to their career goals and choice of major, and monitor registration progress of assigned first-year students.
  • Responsible for hiring, coaching, development and reviewing performance of student employees and mentors.
  • Effectively use EAB Navigate and Banner tools for assessment, evaluation, and registration results in determining student academic performance.
  • Complete comprehensive semester and annual reporting including, but not limited to, academic achievement, service, membership and retention, and policy compliance.
  • Serve as part of the management team for Solution Central and provide broad-based student-centered services to meet the personal, professional, social, and educational needs of students.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
  • Required:

    Master's Degree in Student Personnel, Education, Human Resources, Behavioral Science, Higher Education Administration, Social Work, Human Services or closely related field.
  • 5-10 years experience in higher education setting/academic environment with responsibilities in budget management, personnel administration, student services (career, personal, developmental, diversity/inclusion) required.
  • Thorough knowledge of college student development theory and practice.
  • Personal and career counseling experience.
  • Academic and course registration.
  • Ability to use and learn educational, predictive analytics software and student engagement database management systems.
  • Ability to develop and deliver effective personal, social, career, and student development programs to individuals and groups.
  • Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills with a high energy level.
  • Ability to adhere to FERPA, HIPPA, and other appropriate regulatory requirements. Customer-service orientation with a dedicated focus on students' needs. Detailed oriented with strong report writing experience and skills.
  • Valid Driver's License or reliable transportation to travel on behalf of the University is required.
