Background

Take Control Initiative (TCI) works to remove barriers and increase access to birth control in Tulsa County. We work collaboratively with over 200 community partners, 20+ health center sites, and several state and national organizations. TCI operates at the intersection of health and education with the underlying belief that individuals will make the best decisions for themselves when equipped with information and resources.

Our team consists of Education/Outreach, Clinical Services, and Data/Policy departments. Position Description

The Program Coordinator reports to the Program Director and is an integral part of the Education and Outreach (E&O) team, collaborating on TCI’s education and outreach activities. They are responsible for implementing all aspects of TCI’s Peer Health Educator (PHE) program, including recruitment, training, and facilitation, with the support of the E&O department. This role will facilitate cohorts of postsecondary students in carrying out sexual health promotion to their peers, while also providing leadership development.

The Program Coordinator not only builds and maintains strong community partnerships but also works closely with the Clinical Services and Data & Policy departments to advance community engagement and outreach initiatives. This position plays a critical role in advancing TCI’s mission by strengthening student leadership, participating in daily activities promoting health education, and connecting community members with resources.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Leads the implementation and coordination of the Peer Health Educator (PHE) program across postsecondary institutions, coordinating recruitment, retention, training, and group facilitation for a cohort of approximately twenty Peer Health Educators.
  • Responsible for growing collaboration between the PHE program and TCI staff
  • Maintains and collects accurate program data and records, overseeing attendance tracking, data entry, quality assurance, and data integrity to support ongoing program development and refinement.
  • Collaborates with the Program Director and Learning & Engagement Manager to co‑develop curriculum, training content, and program structure.
  • Establishes, strengthens, and maintains integration of the PHE program into TCI’s community engagement and outreach events
  • Responsible for establishing and maintaining a schedule for PHE alumni communication efforts and events
  • Builds and strengthens partnerships with campus departments, student leaders, and community organizations, maintaining and scaling relationships to grow program visibility and engagement
  • Assist with grant‑related applications, data reporting, and contributions to proposals
  • Support community engagement strategies, outreach efforts, and aligned messaging.
  • Supports the delivery of mission‑focused educational content in various settings
  • Support the Program Director with logistics and recruitment for volunteer events.
  • Provide community education and services via the TCI Helpline, helping clients navigate transportation and questions related to accessing clinical services.
  • Collaborate with the TCI+ Clinical Services team to support them in relaying community feedback to relevant TCI partner health centers.
  • Consistently participate in community groups, coalitions, and professional development opportunities to raise awareness of TCI and stay informed on best practices

Requirements Experience and Education
  • Bachelor’s degree OR equivalent experience (preference for a degree or experience in an education or public health setting).
Physical Requirements
