Job Type: Full-Time Industry: Early Childhood Education / Childcare Location Tulsa
We are looking for a caring, dependable, and professional Assistant Teacher to join our early childhood education team. The Assistant Teacher will help provide a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment where children can learn, grow, and develop.
The ideal candidate enjoys working with young children, works well with a team, and understands the importance of developmentally appropriate practices and quality childcare.
Qualifications- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- High school diploma or GED OR meet Assistant Teacher qualifications under NAEYC guidelines.
- Ability to work effectively with children, families, coworkers, and administration.
- Reliable, punctual, and professional.
- Ability to lift 15–30 pounds.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Supervise children and maintain a safe classroom environment.
- Maintain required staff-to-child ratios at all times.
- Follow Developmentally Appropriate Practices (DAP) in accordance with NAEYC guidelines and DHS licensing requirements.
- Assist with developing and implementing daily classroom schedules and lesson plans.
- Submit lesson plans by Thursday for review before implementation.
- Assist with classroom management and positive behavior guidance.
- Complete daily reports and maintain professional communication with parents and families.
- Assist with child evaluations and developmental documentation.
- Maintain child portfolios and anecdotal notes using the Creative Curriculum.
- Maintain the classroom's NAEYC portfolio and keep required artifacts current.
- Assist with family-style meal service.
- Keep the classroom clean, organized, and properly stocked.
- Replenish classroom supplies such as paper towels, soap, and other materials.
- Provide consistent and dependable care to children.
- Participate in staff meetings, special activities, and center events.
- Work cooperatively with teachers, administration, and other staff members.
- Protect the confidentiality and privacy of children and their families.
- Maintain a professional appearance and attitude.
- Demonstrate excellent attendance and punctuality.
- Be flexible and willing to assist with classroom and center needs.
- Communicate respectfully with children, parents, coworkers, and administration.
- Demonstrate patience, dependability, and teamwork.
- Maintain a positive and professional classroom environment.
- Employees must complete and maintain required training and certifications, including:
- 30 hours of job-related training annually.
- State Pilot Program classroom training requirements, including PITC, when applicable.
- Pediatric CPR and First Aid certification, renewed as required by the issuing agency.
- Current Tulsa County Food Handler's Permit.
- ELCCT and SIDS/SUID training within the first 90 days of employment.
- Annual infection control and medication training.
