RINA is currently recruiting for a Principal SAR System Engineer to join its office in ROME within the Electronics and System Engineering Division.

We are looking for a Senior SAR System Engineer with deep expertise in synthetic aperture radar design, signal processing, and image performance optimization. This role will drive the technical direction of next-generation SAR payload.

• Lead SAR payload architecture, RF chain design, and antenna specifications
• Develop SAR acquisition modes (Stripmap, Spotlight, ScanSAR)
• Define image quality metrics (NESZ, resolution, ambiguity ratios)
• Collaborate with AI/ML teams on onboard processing algorithms
• Oversee calibration, radiometric accuracy, and commissioning phases
• Interface with ground segment for data exploitation

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering General or Aerospace Engineering

• 15+ years of experience in SAR system development
• Expertise in SAR processing algorithms and RF payload design
• Experience with X-band, onboard processing, and data compression
• Strong analytical skills and experience with ESA/ECSS environments
• Have a big picture of different situations and reinterpret it in a perspective way
