Position Overview

As an Engineer, Technology Development, EDC at ST Engineering Marine Ltd., specifically in the Engineering Design Center Division, you will play a pivotal role in leading innovative technology solutions that advance marine platforms and systems. You will be at the forefront of developing cutting‑edge technologies within the dynamic environment of marine engineering, focusing on full electric, green ship concepts, autonomous vessels, and marine digitalization.

Key Roles and Responsibilities

  • Provide comprehensive support to the Department Head across all assigned department functions, ensuring operational excellence and smooth workflow management.
  • Act as the design solution lead by developing and delivering accurate, innovative solutions tailored to meet the unique needs of our customers, ensuring project success from concept through to implementation.
  • Coordinate cross‑functional teams within the organization to define functional requirements, design, develop, integrate, execute, and validate systems for new builds and retrofits of marine platforms.
  • Collaborate closely with the Director of Technology & Development and Head of Technology Development to ideate and establish strategic technology roadmaps that support business growth, tender success, and contract fulfillment.
  • Forge and sustain strategic partnerships and collaborations with key stakeholders including customers, statutory authorities, educational institutions, and subcontractors to drive innovation and enhance testbed operations.
  • Identify and explore new business development opportunities, evaluating potential partnerships and preparing compelling proposals to expand the company's technology offerings and market reach.
  • Oversee and manage the execution of assigned technology development projects, ensuring compliance with contractual obligations and regulatory standards while maintaining high safety and quality standards.
  • Lead and actively contribute to technical discussions, design reviews, integration assessments, and testing & evaluation sessions with customers and equipment vendors to ensure coherent project delivery and successful outcomes.
  • Practice effective project management skills to ensure cost control, schedule adherence, and risk mitigation throughout the project lifecycle.

Competency Development and Continuous Learning

  • Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of technological advancements, industry best practices, and marine classification rules relevant to design and technology development activities.
  • Continuously enhance technical competencies through participation in training, workshops, and professional events to uphold the company’s position at the forefront of marine engineering innovation.

Essential Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Naval Architecture, Electrical & Electronics Engineering (EEE), Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related engineering discipline.
  • Open to candidates with a strong academic record or candidates with prior experience in Engineering or R&D environments relevant to technology development from Marine or other industries.
  • Proven track record in planning, developing, testing, and managing engineering projects to successful completion.

Knowledge and Technical Skills

  • Comprehensive understanding of international maritime codes, Marine Classification Society rules, and statutory regulations governing marine design.
  • Familiarity with emerging technologies including Full Electric Ships, Green Ship initiatives, autonomous marine vessels, and digitalization strategies in marine operations.
  • Proficient in Computer Aided Design (CAD) software such as AutoCAD, Rhino, Aveva Marine or equivalent tools used in marine design and engineering.
