Systems Engineer
The Network Engineer reports to the Principal Investigator for the institutes and has the following responsibilities.
Essential Functions (Responsibilities)- Facilitate connectivity and networking for robotics, sensors, computing, and automation technologies acquired and used by investigators at the institutes.
- Manage and address issues with the physical and cyber security of research equipment and devices as needed.
- Broker open communication and problem solving with University IT, physical plant, and other on-campus and external professionals, to address networking and computing infrastructure installation and management issues as they arise.
- Manage a virtual infrastructure environment that runs Ubiquiti, Proxmox, VMware, Free Nas.
- Work with researchers and software developers to facilitate the development and demonstration of deliverables.
- Be available to respond to incidents in a timely manner.
- Have significant understanding of Linux systems, along with balancing large compute jobs and resources for AI and ML based projects.
- Have significant understanding of Docker, Bash, Python,slurm, Nvidia-smi, Gitlab/Github, Wireshark
- Ability to work under limited supervision.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks while meeting deadlines.
- Bachelor’s Degree in CS/IT or engineering discipline.
- Three years industry experience with IT, networking and/or automation platforms.
- Previous work experience in a university setting.
- Cybersecurity experience or certification.
- Demonstrate effectiveness in working with a variety of administrative levels and diverse groups of people located both internally and externally to the institution.

Preferred QualificationsMaster’s degree in computer science, information technology, or engineering.
