Overview

Seeking a skilled and experienced NETA Field Technician
. This role involves performing testing, commissioning, maintenance, and troubleshooting of high-voltage substation equipment to ensure the safety and reliability of electrical power systems. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in electrical testing and maintenance, as well as extensive knowledge of industry standards, including NETA, IEEE, and NFPA. Successful candidates will be placed in Technician I – Senior Technician titles commiserate with their certification and experience.

Duties

and Responsibilities
  • Perform electrical testing services on power apparatus, substations, and switch gear included (but not limited to) the following:
  • Protective relaying and relaying systems
  • Circuit Breakers
  • Power Transformers
  • Current and Potential Transformers
  • Meters, Transducers, and Power system metering
  • Power Cables
  • Grounding Systems
  • Motors and Motor Starters
  • Station Batteries and Chargers
  • Alarm systems and Annunciators
  • Personal Protective Equipment
  • Perform troubleshooting and problem identification and analysis. Make recommendations regarding corrective action and/or repairs
  • Generate technical reports detailing services provided, problems found, and corrective action taken or recommended
  • Represent the company in a professional manner regarding communicating and interfacing with clients
  • Communicate effectively with the company management team on a regular basis regarding project status and the scheduling of manpower and equipment
Qualifications
  • Power DB knowledge a plus
  • Broad knowledge of electrical AC/DC fundamentals (Electrical)
  • Broad knowledge of the major components of a substation
  • Broad knowledge of control and protection systems (Electrical)
  • Knowledge of high-voltage electric field theory (Electrical)
  • Broad knowledge of electrical code and standards (NEC, NESC, and applicable IEEE and ANSI) (Electrical)
  • Broad knowledge of civil / structural codes and standards (NESC, and applicable IEEE, ANSI, AISC and ACI) (Civil / Structural)
  • Broad knowledge of the function of major electrical equipment
  • Broad knowledge of ground grid theory and design (Electrical)
  • Knowledge of the types of drawings required to construct an electrical substation
  • Knowledge of drafting standards
