Certified Nurse Anesthetist

Summary

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP) - a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program approval, including award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years), is determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application.

Former EDRP participants are ineligible to apply.

Duties

• THIS IS AN OPEN CONTINUOUS ANNOUNCEMENT
• APPLICATIONS WILL BE ACCEPTED UNTIL SEPTEMBER 30, 2025, OR UNTIL ALL POSITIONS ARE FILLED
• APPLICATIONS WILL BE REVIEWED EVERY 30 DAYS
• THE EARLIEST START DATE FOR THIS POSITION IS OCTOBER 5, 2025
• Major duties include, but are not limited to:
• Collaborate with a variety of health care professionals to achieve common goals for patient care, safety, and welfare
• Foster high levels of confidence and satisfaction among patients and staff, and meet or exceed compliance standards
• Provide anesthetic services, including pre-anesthesia evaluation and preparation, induction, maintenance, emergence, post-anesthesia care, peri-anesthetic and clinical support functions, and emergency response techniques
• Develop and implement comprehensive anesthesia care plans for patients requiring local, regional, general, and monitored anesthesia both inside and outside the Operating Room (OR)
• Ensure high-quality anesthetic services throughout the facility to promote patient safety, satisfaction, and improved outcomes and efficiencies
• Serve as a resource for staff education; willing to be a preceptor and adjunct clinical faculty for healthcare trainees
• Develop and implement evidence-based practices to deliver the highest quality anesthesia care
• Prescribe appropriate preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative orders and medications

• Provide anesthesia care across three facilities:

  C. Montgomery VA Medical Center, Ernest Childers Outpatient Clinic, and James Mountain Inhofe VA Medical Center
• As privileged or within scope of practice, and according to skill, proficiency, and state licensure, CRNAs may provide preoperative and postoperative anesthesia orders
• CNAs with DEA numbers may independently prescribe controlled substances in preoperative, intraoperative, or postoperative settings
