Crisis Intervention And Direct Service Responsibilities
  • Counsel clients as needed when presenting with acute crisis and in danger of harm to self or others.
  • Assist with Licensed Mental Health Professional (LMHP) statements and CCOP consults as needed.
  • Provide support to staff serving clients experiencing acute crises and help clients dealing with other distressing issues.
  • Apply effective crisis intervention skills, suicide prevention and intervention strategies, and problem‑solving techniques when responding to individuals in crisis or supporting direct service staff.
  • Work collaboratively with F&CS staff to engage clients in appropriate services.
  • Provide clinical leadership when needed in crisis situations, including case consultation or working directly with a client.
  • Consult with other health professionals to request assistance for any recovery and intervention options as needed.
  • Recommend treatment adjustments and interventions through client interview and the case review process.
  • Consult with the F&CS Crisis Intervention team and agency Suicidologist for complex and difficult client situations.
Clinical Guidance
  • Assist staff by supervising complex cases and providing treatment recommendations, adjustments, or interventions needed for clients.
  • Provide clinical guidance, training, and expertise for staff lacking crisis intervention experience.
  • Facilitate team meetings as a backup to Clinical Supervisor, including huddles and high‑risk staffing.
  • Provide feedback on ways to improve the delivery and types of clinical services offered to clients.
  • Provide a supportive environment for employees by modeling and teaching work management, change management, communication skills, self‑care, and addressing personal barriers and strengths.
  • Advise on treatment for clients who may require more intensive or specialized mental health care, offering supportive treatment options until clients can be engaged in outpatient care as appropriate.
  • Attend Incident Review Committee to provide case presentation, discuss recommendations, and ensure implementation.
  • Collaborate with Clinical Supervisors to ensure ongoing staff and client needs are met.
  • Oversee and review clinical work procedures as needed, working with the Clinical Director and Program Director to implement changes or process improvements.
Training
  • Identify staff training needs to be addressed by the agency clinical training department and/or individual programs.
  • Assist with supporting and training current or newly hired clinical supervisory staff.
  • Develop a monthly training schedule and deliver information in program meetings.
Maintain a Close Working Relationship with Program Director
  • Inform the Clinical Director and/or Program Director promptly of all relevant staff morale and employee satisfaction issues, political, financial, clinical, and liability concerns, and make recommendations for any changes in procedures, protocols, and/or new processes.
  • Identify agenda items for staff meetings.
Develop and Manage Self for Success
  • Stay actively informed of emerging best practice and enhanced protocols for suicide and homicide prevention and intervention.
  • Collaborate with clinical director and program director to implement changes and best practices used in the program.
  • Actively enhance knowledge of critical analysis in decision making.
  • Understand and develop advanced evidence‑based practice and specialty skills.
  • Model essential behaviors for program staff.
Education
  • Master's Degree in social sciences is required.
Experience
  • Trained in mental health crisis intervention.
  • Training in suicide prevention and intervention is preferred.
  • Preferred crisis intervention experience.
  • Excellent communication and listening skills to understand and assess the client's situation and evaluate the level of their emotional and psychological state.
  • Fully licensed as LPC, LCSW, LMFT, or LBP.
