The Jail Reentry Case Manager provides risk, mental health, and substance abuse screening services to district court defendants, with the goal of identifying diversion alternatives to incarceration. Services are primarily delivered at the David L. Moss Criminal Justice Center, with occasional service at other agency locations. The role serves an adult population with serious mental illness, substance abuse, and/or co-occurring diagnoses.
Responsibilities- Conduct risk, mental health, and substance abuse assessments for court defendants to determine appropriate diversion or incarceration.
- Assist the District Attorney in managing community‑bound cases, ensuring timely and effective progress through the court system.
- Establish and maintain cooperation and communication among attorneys, treatment providers, and other agencies and professionals involved in each case.
- Provide individualized treatment and jail re‑entry planning, including group sessions for inmates on substance use and behavioral change.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate services and enhance client recovery.
- Bachelor’s degree in the social sciences, Criminal Justice, Education, or related field (required).
- Case Management II certification, or ability to obtain certification by taking the first available Case Management Certification course after hire.
- Valid Oklahoma Driver License and satisfactory driving record; personal automobile required for travel to locations beyond the primary office.
- Strong commitment to client rights, personal preferences, and the right to live in normal community residences.
- Demonstrated ability to establish supportive, trusting relationships with persons with mental illness and/or substance abuse issues.
Family & Children’s Services operates as a Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC), utilizing an innovative, team‑based, whole‑person approach to address complex mental health and substance use challenges. This model includes:
- Expanded access to care and crisis services.
- Enhanced community mental health and substance use services.
- Integrated care coordination and physical health screening for mental health clients.
- Greater access to social services addressing clients’ economic and social needs.
- Specialized services for veterans and individuals impacted by the opioid crisis.
This position is safety‑sensitive as defined by the Oklahoma Medical Marijuana and Patient Protection Act. Possession of a medical marijuana license will not exclude applicants; however, all employees must comply with the Family & Children’s Services Drug Free Workplace Policy.
