Overview
Occupational Therapy Assistant (COTA) role at Oklahoma State University Medical Center. The COTA functions under the guidance of the Rehab Medicine Manager and the staff Occupational Therapists. The COTA follows the treatment plans as established by the Occupational Therapist and administers modalities and other related procedures, under the prescription of the patient’s physician and supervision of the Occupational Therapist. Treatment is provided in an interdisciplinary environment consistent with the position’s qualifications, professional practices, and ethical standards, to help attain the patient’s maximum level of independence and performance.
The COTA is responsible for the documentation and communication of all necessary information to all appropriate parties. The COTA is responsible for the care of patients in all areas of OSU Medical Center, as the situation requires. The COTA must follow standards of performance for Occupational Therapist Assistants as established by all governing bodies. The COTA also performs other duties as required.
- Function under guidance of the Rehab Medicine Manager and staff Occupational Therapists
- Follow established treatment plans and administer modalities and related procedures under the prescription of the patient’s physician and supervision of the Occupational Therapist
- Provide therapy in an interdisciplinary environment aligned with qualifications, professional practices, and ethical standards
- Document and communicate necessary information to all appropriate parties
- Provide patient care in all areas of OSU Medical Center as required
- Follow standards of performance for Occupational Therapist Assistants as established by governing bodies
- Perform other duties as required

2-year/Associate s Degree - License/
Certifications:
OK license as an Occupational Therapist Assistant (new graduates must take the exam within 3 months and receive full licensure within 9 months) - BLS
